2017 Chrysler 200 Sedan Engine, Performance, Interior, and Review

Considering the recent major updates were still fresh, we can expect that there will be no significant changes for the new 2017 Chrysler 200. Even so, it does not mean the new Chrysler 200 is not worth your time and attention. So far, we can even say that this is Chrysler’s best mid-size sedan so far, with no longer the fuddy-duddy personal we often associate with 200. Rather, it is not a sedan with smooth and elegant look that allows 200 to stand out without having to go over the top.

Trendy details are scattered all around the 2017 Chrysler 200. Inside, you will find only high-class materials covering the interior for an artful and elegant design. The cabin is not only easy on the eyes, but easy to use as well—thanks to the brilliant big 8.4-inch touchscreen for Uconnect infotainment system. Under the hood, the base 4-cylinder may be less appealing compared to what you can find in Chrysler 200’s competitors. However, with the optional V6, you will be even more and more attracted to this mid-size sedan instead.

Improvements are made for the already-impressive 2016 Chrysler 200, especially when it comes to interior room. While the 2017 Chrysler 200 does not show any significant increasing in interior room size, it is still an interesting worth considering if you are looking for a new midsize sedan to drive. As we all know, this is a highly competitive segment, which provides you plenty of alternatives, including the all-time’s favorite Honda Accord with its spectacular fuel economy, limousine-like backseat, and strong performance. If you prefer something fun to drive, Mazda 6 makes a truly tempting choice.

Chrysler 200 Sedan Specs and Performance

This five-passenger sedan is available in four different trim levels: LX, Limited, S, and C. All 2017 Chrysler 200 models are standard with a base engine featuring 2.4L 4-cylinder that is capable of producing decent 184 horsepower and 173 lb.-ft. of torque. However, if you are looking for more power, opt for the Chrysler 200 Limited, S, and C so you can shift to the optional 3.6L V6 for total output of 295 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission—for 200S, it comes with paddle shifters mounted on steering wheels.

All 2017 Chrysler 200 models are offered with front-wheel drive configuration as standard, but you can get the all-wheel drive one as an option once you step up to the V6-powered trim levels. With the V6, you can also experience the sharper transmission and engine responses, along with the heavier steering effort, thanks to its Sport mode. Sport mode will bias power output to the rear wheels on all-wheel drive models, sending 60 percent of the torque the engine produces to the rear axle.

When it comes to fuel economy, the 2017 Chrysler 200 is rated impressively. The base 4-cylinder engine is estimated by EPA at 28 mpg combined (23 city and 36 highway). Meanwhile, the V6 engine with front-wheel drive is rated at 23 mpg combined (19 and 32) and the one with all-wheel drive is only a number lower at 22 mpg combined (18 and 29).

2017 Chrysler 200 Release Date and Interior

Without a doubt, the thoroughly modern design for 2017 Chrysler 200 cabin makes one of the highlights. With the S and C models, you can see even clearer, more particularly with the large 8.4-inch infotainment interface. The large touchscreen is responsive and intuitive, and fills out the dashboard beautifully while complementing the rotary-style shifter from the sedan’s automatic transmission. As for the base 200 Limited, even though it doesn’t look quite awe striking, its interior is still functional and comfortable. High-quality materials are also seen even in base trim level with cloth upholstery and 5-inch audio display.

In short, it’s always easy to feel comfortable in the new 2017 Chrysler 200, which is made more obvious with the firmer than ever seat cushions. However, the same issue regarding the less hiproom still lingers in the 200, which may make the car too snug if you are more on the larger side. Apart from that, legroom is less on the rear. After all, the sense of space in the new Chrysler 200 remains the same lowdown.
